Kia Lee, MSW, LICSW, MBA, is the Director of BSW Field Education and an Assistant Professor in the Social Work Program at St. Catherine University. A bilingual Hmong woman and refugee, Kia was born in Ban Vinai Refugee Camp in Thailand and immigrated to the U.S. at age 10. With 20 years of clinical and nonclinical experience, she has dedicated her career to advancing social justice, access, diversity, equity, and inclusion in social work education and practice.
Kia’s work is deeply rooted in dismantling systemic barriers and creating inclusive, transformative spaces for students and communities. At St. Catherine University, she has pioneered innovative, person-centered approaches to field education that center disability justice and adult learning principles, ensuring equitable and accessible field experiences for all students. Kia is passionate about bridging theory and practice, advancing global social work leadership, and transforming reflection into accountable action.
