Miguel Rodriguez, LMSW, is a doctoral candidate in social welfare at the CUNY Graduate Center and an experienced educator, social worker, and community organizer. With over a decade of experience in restorative and transformative justice, Miguel has worked extensively with Black and Brown youth in alternative school settings, advocating for inclusive, equity-driven education practices. As an adjunct professor, he teaches graduate-level social work courses, including Research Methods, Social Welfare Policy, and Clinical Diagnostics, incorporating anti-oppressive, liberation-based pedagogies.
His research focuses on the intersections of the school-to-prison pipeline, youth organizing, and disability justice, with a particular emphasis on fostering a sense of belonging among marginalized students. As a Bronx native, Miguel is deeply committed to decolonizing social work education and ensuring that students of color are not just included but centered in academic and professional spaces.
