Sterling L. James is a social work practitioner with a commitment to promoting change in individuals and communities. With a masters degree in social work and over 25 plus years of hands-on experience, he is a human services professional and educator that has maintained engagement, both in front of and behind the curtain.
Sterling has cultivated his skills in addressing complex social issues through maintaining focus on what things are versus what they appear to be. Through community engagement, mental health & Black men’s health advocacy, he has established a network of resources that enhance his service capacity. He has collaborated with legislative members, community leaders, grassroots and non-profit organizations, and serves on several boards of directors’ committees. He has worked with displaced individuals, child welfare systems, congregate care, special investigations and other departments that provide direct support services to communities. His career path has led him to the university level, working with a dedicated administrative body and graduate students. His desire for social justice and advocacy is evident in his tireless efforts to empower and promote inclusivity for all who cross his path.
