Amy C. Traylor is an Associate Professor at the University of Alabama School of Social Work. She also serves as the social work faculty member on a HRSA Leadership Education in Adolescent Health training grant through the University of Alabama, Birmingham, where she works with an interdisciplinary faculty to provide training to graduate and post-graduate trainees interested in adolescent healthcare.
Dr. Traylor’s research focuses on child, adolescent, and young adult mental health and wellness, with an emphasis on animal-assisted services and virtual reality-based interventions. Her work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the US Health Services and Resources Administration (HRSA), and the US Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime (OVC).
Dr. Traylor has received a variety of awards and has served on several University, community, and national committees, including the CSWE Council on the Role and Status of Women in Social Work Education. Additionally, she has volunteers with The Red Barn, a therapeutic riding facility.
