Casseopea Jenkins-Saiz is a non-binary, queer person of color committed to disability justice, intersectionality, and equity in social work. With over 20 years of experience as a trusted advocate, they focus on dismantling systemic biases against BIPOC LGBTQIA2S+ communities through research, policy reform, and culturally responsive interventions.
Their work examines the historical erasure of Two-Spirit identities and systemic oppression of Black trans women, applying Intersectionality Theory and Resilience Theory to social work education and practice. They actively challenge anti-trans and anti-Black biases in social services by integrating community-led solutions and arts-based healing into their research.
Beyond academia, Casseopea serves as the Head of Diversity & Inclusion for Phi Omega Delta Sorority Inc., leading efforts to revise policies for trans inclusion and facilitate cultural sensitivity training. They have also developed tenant advocacy programs, community engagement initiatives, and support services for individuals in recovery.
