Dr. Soonhee Roh is a distinguished Behavioral Health Scientist with expertise in health disparities, behavior change interventions, and rural health. Her pioneering research integrates mobile health (mHealth) technology with community-based participatory approaches, emphasizing randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to develop and test innovative interventions.
As the Principal Investigator of "A Mobile Web App Intervention to Promote Cervical Cancer Screening among Indigenous Women," a federally funded study (1R01CA288301-01), Dr. Roh is leading transformative efforts to enhance cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccination rates among Indigenous women in South Dakota. Additionally, she serves as a Co-Investigator on the Alzheimer Association-supported project, "Beliefs about Dementia and the Role of Culture among American Indian Families," where she investigates the critical intersection of culture and cognitive health.
Dr. Roh has also led significant NIH-funded research (U54GM128729) focused on increasing mammogram uptake through mHealth interventions. Her contributions to the field have earned her numerous accolades, including the 2017 President's Award for Research Excellence.
With over a decade of experience in social work, Dr. Roh continues to advance technology-driven approaches to health promotion and disease prevention, making a profound impact on underserved communities and setting new standards in the field.
