Laura Lewis, PhD, LCSW, lalewis@buffalo.edu, is Assistant Dean for Global Partnerships and
Clinical Associate Professor at University at Buffalo School of Social Work. She also serves as
co-director of the School’s Institute for Sustainable Global Engagement, which brings together
researchers and faculty with common interests, facilitating collaborations in research, and
expanding and developing educational and service opportunities that foster global engagement
and rights-based approaches to alleviating pressing social and economic challenges. A 2018
recipient of a Fulbright award for International Education Administrators, she has presented
and published in the areas of education for human rights, migration, and university-community partnerships.
Dr. Lewis was appointed to the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE’s)
Council on Global Social Issues in 2022.
