Joana Okine, MPhil (she/her/hers)

Joana Okine is a fourth-year PhD candidate at the University of Alabama's School of Social Work. She earned a Master of Philosophy in Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work with Sociology from the University of Ghana. Her research focuses on informal caregiving for older adults, aging and long-term care, misconceptions about aging, the social and cultural dimensions of aging, and immigrant caregivers. Joana is also a former pre-dissertation fellow of the AGESW Gerontological Social Work Predissertation Program.
