Dr. Greta Slater is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Social Work at Ball State University. She is PI on multiple-year evaluation projects with Volunteers of America of IN and OH including the SAMHSA Pregnant and Post-partum Women (PPW) and Freshstart Pilot. The team is evaluating the efficacy of a residential addictions program for pregnant and post-partum women who have babies and young children staying with them in the program. Greta is a licensed clinical social worker whose practice background includes violence and trauma across the life span. Greta's primary research interests include two primary areas: 1) risk assessment and resiliency after trauma—post-traumatic growth—and 2) workforce development—self-care, experiential teaching, student engagement in research, assessment of learning, professionalism, and licensure. Greta is also an item-writer for Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) and Coordinator of the Title IV-E Child Welfare Partnership program for BSW and MSW students at Ball State.
