Shena Leverett Brown, Ph.D., LCSW, MAC, CFCS is an assistant professor in the Whitney M. Young, Jr. School of Social Work at Clark Atlanta University. She is also Director of the HBCU Center for Excellence in Behavioral Health (L.E.A.P.- Leadership in Education, Awareness, and Preparation). Her work with the SAMHSA-funded HBCU CFE is aimed at addressing the growing behavioral health provider shortage and increasing diversity and culturally responsive care. Dr. Brown has an extensive practice history with over 25 years of post-MSW behavioral health experience as a clinical social worker and an addiction counselor. Her research agenda incorporates interdisciplinary inquiry and mixed methodological approaches to strengthen knowledge around race-based stress and intersectional disparities, particularly in behavioral health.
