Dr. Vanessa Robinson-Dooley is a Licensed Clinical Social worker (LCSW) in the state of Georgia, a nationally Certified Nonprofit Professional, and a Professor and Director of the PhD Program in Social Work at Simmons University. Her clinical practice (therapist) experience includes individual and family therapy, group work, and assessments (individuals and families). Her practice career has included working with the Department of Family & Children Services, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the public schools conducting bio-psychosocial assessments and providing therapy to children, youth, and families. Her practice experience also includes domestic violence, program development, and community organizing. She is the founding Executive Director of The Agape Community Center (now the Agape Youth & Family Center) in Atlanta, a nonprofit and community center focused on youth and community enrichment. Her current research focuses on Black men’s health, self-management of chronic disease and mental health, and promoting cultural competency in clinical training of Social Workers. Dr. Robinson-Dooley's work has been widely published in esteemed journals and books.
