Heather Fronckowiak, LCSW, is a dedicated social work educator, clinician, and field education leader with over 15 years of experience in trauma-informed care, child welfare, and higher education. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Social Work and MSW Field Director at SUNY Plattsburgh, where she oversees graduate field placements, teaches practicum courses, and plays a key role in accreditation and admissions.
Previously, Heather was an Assistant Professor and MSSW Field Director at The College of Saint Rose, where she developed new clinical electives, led accreditation efforts, and mentored both undergraduate and graduate students. Her clinical work includes over a decade at the START Children’s Center, Inc where she provided therapy, crisis intervention, forensic interviews, and multidisciplinary case reviews for child fatality investigations.
A passionate advocate for social justice and professional development, Heather has presented at statewide conferences on privilege, community trauma, and interdisciplinary teamwork. Her research interests include field education, trauma centered practices and self-care. Her teaching pedagogy focuses on strong relationships with students and real-world application of learning. She is actively involved in nonprofit leadership serving as a board member of Community Life Support, in her rural community focusing on health and wellness.
Heather holds an MSW from the State University of New York at Albany and a BSW from The College of Saint Rose. She is a licensed clinical social worker in New York and a dedicated mentor to future social work professionals.
