Dr. Rosemary Alamo is a licensed clinical social worker with a Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC). She holds a Doctor of Behavioral Health from Arizona State University. Dr. Alamo is an Associate Teaching Professor at the USC Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work and co-leads the Social Work and Public Safety program at USC. This program collaborates with the legal system, providing a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to serving communities through accessible support, education, training, and services, with particular attention to ensuring equal access for individuals with disabilities.
Dr. Alamo has over 29 years of professional experience in diverse settings, including higher education, K-12 schools, public safety, health care, community-based organizations, public child welfare, and private practice. Her career has focused on promoting wellness, health, and mental health along with building trauma-informed, accessible infrastructures that support them. She champions universal design principles and advocates for removing systemic barriers that prevent individuals with disabilities from accessing vital services. Dr. Alamo serves as a forensic expert and consultant at the local and national levels on reimagining public safety, with emphasis on developing inclusive practices that address the unique needs of people with disabilities. She provides professional development to public safety and professional staff, incorporating disability awareness and accommodation strategies into her training programs.
