Expressive Arts Hawai’i
Genevieve S. R. Dunn, MA, R-DMT is a dedicated dance/movement therapist with a passion for integrating expressive arts into therapeutic practice. She holds a Master of Arts in Dance/Movement Therapy and Counseling from Antioch University New England and a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Western Washington University. She is working on her drama therapy certification.
Currently, Genevieve serves as a therapist at Spill the Tea Café in Honolulu, providing expressive arts therapy to neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ youth. She also works as a private contractor with Expressive Arts Hawai’i, where she facilitates self-care groups for therapists and provides training for professionals in mental health, early childhood education, and victim support services. Genevieve works with I’olani School second graders each year utilizing DMT to assist them in understanding and expresing their emotuons.
Her expertise spans trauma-informed care, movement analysis, and innovative therapeutic interventions, drawing from experience at Hancock Dance/Movement Center in Wisconsin and in international settings such as Peru. She has led therapy groups for individuals with ADHD, autism, brain injuries, and dementia, applying movement-based interventions to foster emotional and social well-being.
Beyond clinical work, Genevieve is a sought-after presenter, offering workshops at professional conferences, including IVAT, the Hawai’i Association for the Education of Young Children, and the American Dance Therapy Association. She is a certified DanceAbility instructor and a registered dance/movement therapist.
With a commitment to healing through movement and storytelling, Genevieve continues to advocate for accessible, inclusive, and creative approaches to mental health and personal growth.
