Kristie A. Thomas, PhD, MSW is a Professor at Simmons University School of Social Work. Prior to her current role as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, she served as the PhD Program Director from 2023-2024 and MSW Program Director from 2020 to 2023. Dr. Thomas has extensive practice, teaching, and research expertise in the field of anti-violence. Her scholarship focuses primarily on developing community-informed programs for intimate partner violence (IPV) survivors and their children. One of her current funded projects is a longitudinal, mixed methods study on the impact of emergency housing vouchers and aftercare services for IPV survivors. In addition to a robust portfolio of peer-reviewed articles, Dr. Thomas has authored online trainings and toolkits that are used widely by researchers and practitioners across the country. Dr. Thomas is the recipient of two teaching excellence awards and is a Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) Fellow. She earned her MSW and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, in her hometown of Philadelphia.
