Amber Mollhagen, PhD, is the Assistant Dean for Admissions and Student Affairs at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. Her professional interests focus on how non-academic programming and financial support influence student success and belonging, the role of diversity in higher education, admissions and student affairs, and disaster preparedness and recovery in academic settings. Dr. Mollhagen has secured federal and state funding to support training and financial assistance initiatives for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. She teaches undergraduate courses in practicum seminar and macro practice. Her leadership and dedication to student support have earned her numerous honors, including the C.F. McElhinney Distinguished Staff Award—the highest staff recognition at the University of Houston. Additional awards have come from the UH Graduate College of Social Work, the National Deans and Directors of Social Work Admissions, the UH Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services, and the UH Office of the President.
