Kimberly Bender, PhD, MSW is the Philip D. and Eleanor G. Winn Endowed Professor for Children and Youth at the University of Denver Graduate School of Social Work. Using creative and participatory research methods, she studies collective practices (peer support, mutual aid, photovoice) to elevate the voices and experiences of young people experiencing marginalization. Together, her teams partner on creating new forms of care and mental health support that improve upon conventional systems. She teaches research courses that emphasizes community engagement and public impact.
