Tashira Turner is a passionate leader and dedicated advocate serving as a Program Manager within the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) Office of Prevention, where she oversees the agency’s ADA/LEP Coordinator and the ICWA Tribal Relations team. With more than 12 years of committed service in child welfare, Tashira has navigated diverse roles—including direct client service, business administration, procurement, and leadership—equipping her with a comprehensive and strategic understanding of the system’s challenges and opportunities. She leads and contributes to several key initiatives and committees within DCS; and lends her voice and expertise in community forums including the Arizona’s Thriving Families, Safer Children Core Team.
She has been instrumental in advancing culturally responsive practice, playing a pivotal role in the creation and implementation of DCS’s training series, “Trauma, Empathy, and Your Role in Culturally Grounded Practice” in partnership with Arizona State University. As a dynamic facilitator, she models empathy and respect, championing a culture where understanding drives meaningful change—knowing that the ripple effects will be far reaching.
Tashira earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Policy, Administration, and Community (PAC) from Arizona State University—an achievement that reflects her unwavering commitment to advocacy and systemic reform. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she embraces her most cherished role as a mother to three sons, including one with special needs. This personal journey has deepened her resolve to champion inclusion, accessibility, and opportunity, and it fuels her determination to ensure everyone has what they need to thrive.
