Clinical Supervisor

Tamara (Tammy) Besser, LCSW, is currently a Clinical Supervisor at JCFS Chicago. She has 30+ years of experience working with children, youth and adults with disabilities and their families in direct care, supervisory, clinical, administrative, and consultative roles. She is currently supervises mental health services for people with disabilities, coordinates Sibshops, leads regular staff training on creating community, and consults with and trains organizations, primarily faith communities, on a variety of topics related to accessibility and belonging. She has been a social work field instructor for 25 years. She is currently a member of both the coordinating council of the Institute on Theology and Disability and the Religion and Spirituality Network of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Her passion is working across and within systems and organizations to decrease stigma and broaden access and inclusion to increase the possibility of authentic community and true belonging for people with disabilities. She received her MSW from the Jane Addams School of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
