AeYanna Yett, MSW-IMH, is a Ph.D. student at the Wayne State University School of Social Work whose research explores how race, gender, and sexuality shape Black women’s experiences of sexual well-being, pleasure, health, and justice. Guided by Black feminist and critical theoretical lenses, her work examines the cultural and structural factors that influence how Black women and girls develop and navigate their sexual lives. Her broader research interests include Black women’s mental health, healthcare access, and culturally responsive social work education. Grounded in her experience as a community-based social worker in Detroit, AeYanna is committed to advancing scholarship and practice that center healing, empowerment, and culturally-rooted care for Black communities.
