Dr. Michael W. Hassler, DSW, LCSW, an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Alvernia University and the BSW Program Director, holds several degrees, including a Doctor of Social Work from the Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, Master of Social Work from the Catholic University of America, and a Master of Arts in Theology from DeSales School of Theology. Michael holds clinical social work licenses in both Pennsylvania and Delaware and has a therapy practice in Berks County. Michael’s areas of interest include social work’s professional identity, the meaning and role of advocacy and activism in social work practice, and social work’s role in environmentalism, climate change, and environmental justice.
