Dr. Alegnta Felleke holds a Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Addis Ababa University School of Social Work. He is an Associate Professor and Ph.D. Program Director at Our Lady of the Lake University’s Worden School of Social Service.
Dr. Felleke served as Principal Investigator for Project LAUNCH (Linking Actions for Unmet Needs in Children’s Health), a federally funded initiative supported by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The program advanced the wellness of young children by addressing their physical, social, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral development.
His research examines how social policies shape individual and family outcomes, with a focus on poverty, financial assets, and family dynamics in the lives of children from low-income households. He integrates theoretical frameworks such as the Capability Approach, the Pyramid Model–Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and the Public Health Approach to study child and family well-being. His current projects explore the intersections of economic hardship, child development, and culturally responsive family supports.
Dr. Felleke’s scholarship has been presented at national conferences including the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) and published in peer-reviewed journals.
