Amelia Seraphia Derr, MSW, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Social Work at Seattle University. Dr. Derr’s research examines the nexus between social and health service systems and the migration experience; specifically the role of local sectors – both government and nonprofit - in promoting socially just contexts of reception for migrants. She researches barriers to social, mental health, and health services for migrants and factors that promote service access and parity. She also studies effective ways of teaching burnout prevention and radical resilience in social work education.
