Melissa Singh, Ed.D., LCSW, MS-HSA, is a University of Southern California, Suzanne
Dworak-Peck School of Social Work Associate Professor in Practicum. She is an NASW
Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Social Worker, a Certified Pharmacy
Technician and an experienced clinician in EMDR and Field Traumatology. In 2016, a
fellowship she co-led won the Award for Innovative Teaching in Social Work Education from
SAGE/CSWE for Educating Social Work Students for Macro Practice. In 2017, Dr. Singh was
awarded the Hutto Patterson Distinguished Faculty Award for excellence in teaching, and in 2023
the Advancing Social Change Through Community Practice (ACOSA) Outstanding Practice
Educator award.
Dr. Singh is known for extensive research and dedication to improving social work education. Her
research interests encompass a wide range of topics, reflecting her commitment to addressing
societal injustices. Dr. Singh is a trailblazer in interdisciplinary research, as demonstrated in her
articles on tackling the climate crisis and reproductive justice. Her commitment to inclusivity is
underscored by her contributions to publications like "Anti-Racism and Equity-Mindedness in
Social Work Field Education." Her recent presentations on topics like “Centering a Social
Innovation Lens: Formalizing the Future of Global Social Work Science” highlight her
dedication to advancing social work.
