Dr. Phyllis Ngai, Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at the University of Montana, and Member of the Council on Social Work Education's Council on Global Learning and Practice. Dr. Ngai’s research and teaching interests lie at the crossroads of social justice studies, Indigenous studies, intercultural studies, and international development studies. Dr. Ngai is the co-author of Visioning Higher Education for Contemporary Global Challenges: In Pursuit of Well-being, Social Justice, and Sustainability published in Routledge's Research in Higher Education Series, the co-author of Migrant Health and Resilience: Transnational Competence in Conflict and Climate Displacement Situations published in Routledge’s Global Public Health Series, and the author of Crossing Mountains: Native American Language Education in Public Schools published in AltaMira Press’ Contemporary Native Communities Series. She also is the author and co-author of 40+ professional journal articles, book chapters, and monographs on social justice education, Indigenous-organization approaches to sustainable development, advancing Indigenous Peoples' Rights, partnerships with Indigenous communities, rural development, and transnational competence and intercultural communication training. Dr. Ngai has taught both in the United States and Asia, and she conducted research and delivered guest lectures/workshops at universities in countries on four continents.
