Dr. Marisol Marroquín is a Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow at Rutgers University-Newark in the Department of Social Work. She is a health equity researcher and clinical social worker who focuses on the intersection of race and disability, particularly within the Latinx autistic communities. Dr. Marroquín is a bilingual researcher and clinician who incorporates her insight as a daughter of Guatemalan immigrants to evaluate the health and well-being of Latinx communities across the United States. Her focus on improving health equity and combating racism and social inequities is strengthened by community-based participatory research strategies that partner with historically marginalized communities for meaningful and sustainable social justice. She earned her PhD from Arizona State University's School of Social Work and graduated from the APA Interdisciplinary Minority Fellowship program. She obtained her master’s in social work from California State University, Long Beach, concentrating on Integrated Health. She has worked clinically in California and Arizona in permanent supportive housing, outpatient mental health, and hospital settings, which provide insight into her analysis and intervention for increased health equity. Dr. Marisol Marroquín is passionate about improving culturally responsive care for racially diverse and disabled communities.
