Dr. Meekyung Han is a professor and co-director of the Child Welfare Partnership for Research and Training at the School of Social Work, San José State University. She possesses extensive expertise and dedication to advancing behavioral health and social work education. Her research focuses on the mental health and well-being of Asian Americans, immigrants, and refugees, emphasizing culturally sensitive social work practices. Through grants, interdisciplinary collaborations, and community partnerships, Dr. Han has advanced research addressing mental health stigma, culturally tailored interventions, and caregiver support, significantly contributing to reducing disparities in mental health systems. She has received multiple honors and awards for her prolific scholarly productivity and contribution to understanding various social issues among different cultural groups. Dr. Han currently serves as a program specialist for the AANHPI Ohana Center of Excellence, funded by SAMHSA, where she works to enhance behavioral health services for Asian Americans through training, technical assistance, and needs assessments. Dr. Han has also provided active research mentorship to students to enhance their learning experiences, and her efforts were recognized with the Outstanding Professor Award from the National Association of Social Workers South Bay Chapter.
