Denise Gosselin is an assistant professor at Touro University Graduate School of Social Work. Dr. Gosselin received her Ph.D. from Fordham University, her MA from New School University, and her BA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. After completing her graduate degree, she became involved in policy practice and advocated for the financial and healthcare rights of older adults. Her advocacy with Live On New York, formally known as the Council of Senior Centers and Services, AARP NY, and AARP Office of International Affairs, the United Nations,- the Department of Economic and Social Affairs, and the New York Academy of Medicine led to building age-friendly communities in New York City, promoting healthy aging initiatives, and engaging with multiple stakeholders. Her research interest is focused on health disparities among older racial and ethnic minorities, the social determinants of health, and healthy aging. Her dissertation examined social isolation among low-income older Hispanics who live in an urban community. At Touro GSSW, Dr. Gosselin teaches Social Welfare Policy I and II, Foundation for Social Work Research and Advance Research, Values and Ethics, and Identity and Social Justice.
