Tasha Seneca Keyes is an Assiociate Professor in the Department of Social Work at California State University San Marcos. She earned her PhD from the University of Chicago’s Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice, and her MSW from the University of Utah’s College of Social Work. Identifying as biracial, Tasha’s mother is of English and Irish descent, while her father is an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians on the Cattaraugus Reservation in western New York.
Her research centers on fostering a sense of belonging and community among underrepresented K-12 students and Master of Social Work students, with a particular emphasis on Native American students. A former school social worker, Tasha’s practice experience deeply informs her research.
