J. Lloyd Allen, PhD, MSW, MPH joined the faculty of Morgan State in Fall 2025 as an Associate Professor. Dr. Allen is a social work and public health scholar who is interested at exploring parent-LGBT child communications and its impact on mental, sexual, and developmental well-being. . He received his MPH in 2023 from Wayne State University, his PhD in 2017 from the University of Georgia, his MSW in 2008 from Florida International University, and his Bachelors in 2004 from Hampden-Sydney College. His research interests, over the years, have explored issues related to gender and sexuality, HIV policy and advocacy, mental health and Black/African American gay men, community mobilization, program evaluation, masculinity, mental health, depression, substance abuse, and gender inequality.
