Vanessa Parker is an Assistant Professor in Social Work at Indiana University and her research is focused on the intersections of health, trauma, and marginalized identities. The aim of her research program is to reduce health disparities and move toward greater health equity, particularly among marginalized populations including sexual and gender minorities and persons of color. Prior to earning her PhD, she worked for an accountable care organization and in these roles she became aware of the impacts of lived experiences on healthcare which led her to my interests in the social determinants of health. She also explores research pertaining to graduate student academic success, belonging, and interprofessional education.
