Santhoshraj Srinivasan, MSW, is a third-year PhD student in Social Work at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. His research integrates trauma-informed care, perinatal mental health, behavioral health, and correctional and clinical social work practice. Drawing from his professional experience in India, his work critically examines how structural determinants - such as caste, incarceration, and systemic marginalization—shape mental health and health disparities across global contexts. His current projects include developing caste-conscious trauma-informed care model and examining parental burnout and drug-dependent behavior among adolescents, and advancing digital mental health interventions for postpartum women and formerly incarcerated populations. He also studies the intersection of intimate partner violence and malnutrition using national health data and collaborates on research supporting trauma-informed prison reform and transgender healthcare equity in India.
Mr. Srinivasan serves as Vice President of the PhD Student Committee at college of social work UTK and SSWR’s International Student Committee. In recognition of his outstanding service, he was honored with the Excellence in Service Award by the University of Tennessee College of Social Work for the 2024–2025 academic year. His scholarship emphasizes culturally responsive, justice-oriented interventions and employs interdisciplinary methods including community-based research, policy analysis, and mixed methods inquiry. Through his work, he aims to bridge academic research, community practice, and international policy to promote equity, healing, and systemic change in social work and public health.
