In my capacity as a scholar-activist researcher, I utilize qualitative-based approaches in my two interrelated lines of research. The first line scrutinizes anti-racism efforts at systemic and organizational levels by delving into social worker perceptions, pinpointing barriers to anti-racism professional development, and comprehending the pervasive nature of racism within the social work profession. My second line of research delves into the impacts of racism and aims to advance our comprehension of racial trauma and racism, as well as therapeutic approaches that facilitate racial healing. Ultimately, my research works to identify culturally responsive practice models to meet the needs of marginalized communities. My research informs my teaching focus on equity and inclusion and my approach to service within the discipline.
