Dr. Leah Prussia is a self-described “tree hugging dirt worshiper.” They blend teachings from Anishinaabe Elders, Nature, Somatic Experiencing, and Relational-Cultural Theory to support the biopsychosocial and spiritual wellness of individuals, groups, and communities. Leah’s work focuses on fostering mind/body and personal/planetary relationships. They are actively involved with Rights of Nature advocacy and presently working with a collective to secure rights for the St. Louis River Estuary, which holds spiritual and ecological significance for the Anishinaabe and those that consider the Twin Ports area home. Leah is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and sole proprietor of Natural Connections LLC. They are a full-time Associate Professor in the Master’s in Social Work Program at the College of St. Scholastica where they enjoy teaching the next generation of social workers both micro and macro practice skills. Leah presently serves as the Chair for the Council on Social Work Education’s Council on Environmental Justice and Human Rights and is a Bwaananaabekwe Giikeno-Amaagewinan board member.
