Dr. George Ashley, an Associate Professor of Social Work at Eastern Kentucky University, leverages over 25 years of experience to mentor future social workers. However, his impact extends beyond the classroom and includes department and senior academic administrative leadership roles. A champion for young minds, Dr. Ashley has always enjoyed working with children and has served as a foster parent where he and his wife were recipients of foster parent of the year awards in Alabama. He recently pivoted his research and service towards the well-being of children with a focus on foster children. Furthering his commitment to social justice, Dr. Ashley is the co-editor of the brand new social work textbook "Race Relations in the 21st Century" (Cognella). This book is designed to help social work program implement the new 2022 CSWE EPAS while addressing effectively seeking to address current social issues dealing with race . Dr. Ashley has co-authored numerous children’s books including their best seller "How is Peter Feeling?", a uniquely interactive children's book tackling differing physical and emotional abilities, mental health, bullying, racial awareness, and other challenges children face. Dr. Ashley also co-founded Strengthen Hands Educational Resources, a firm empowering empowering children, families, and professionals working in the child welfare sector. This dedication makes him more than an educator; “he's a champion for young minds”.
