Eating disorders (EDs) are complex and deleterious conditions. Little is known about the prevalence and comorbidities associated with EDs in trans and non-binary people (TNB). This presentation addresses findings from a representative sample of TNB [state] of prevalence and associations of EDs with disabilities, mental health conditions, and demographics.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
Use a minority stress framework to better understand why TNB people face increased and unique risks for EDs compared to cisgender populations.
Identify mental health and demographic factors associated with EDs in TNB [state].
Understand the high prevalence of EDs in TNB people seeking health and mental health care to encourage ED screening in TNB populations, even when EDs are not the identified concern.
