Protective Factors for Suicidal Ideations among Black U.S. Middle Schoolers During COVID-19

The current study explored protective factors for suicidal ideations among Black U.S. middle schoolers during COVID-19, providing insights for addressing mental health among this population. Implications for social work practice and education, programming, intervention, prevention, policy, and future research are discussed.

At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
  1. Discuss protective factors that can reduce the risks of suicide among U.S. Black middle school students.
  2. Discuss targeted strategies and interventions that can be implemented to address mental health concerns among Black U.S. middle schoolers.
  3. Describe the prevalence of suicidal ideations among Black U.S. middle school students.
