This conceptual paper aims to theorize and apply core constructs of queer temporality literature to reimagine how social work scholars can respond to increasing neoliberal demands for urgency, productivity, and managerialism in academic social work within the three pillars of higher education: teaching, scholarship, and service.

Upon completion, participants will be able to understand and apply scholarship on queer temporality and its intersections with disability justice.
Upon completion, participants will be able to examine current neoliberal trends in higher education and specifically academic social work, as well as their effects on the lived experience of social work scholars and educators.
Upon completion, participants will be able to demonstrate how applications of queer temporality might transform participants’ own teaching, research, and practice in social work.
