Reducing congregate care placements for foster youth has become a national effort. This workshop will review a qualitative study with California foster parents that resulted in a training program aimed at better preparing them for placement of higher needs foster children.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
Examine the barriers and challenges faced by foster parents in providing stable home-based placements for foster youth transitioning from group care
Identify components of a training program that address the needs of foster parents and promotes placement stability for foster youth stepping down from congregate care
Recognize the importance of foster-parent informed training programs in increasing likelihood of placement of high-needs foster youth
