In rural communities, there are a plethora of barriers that can redefine how we think of the word "disability". Individuals in rural communities frequently face significant isolation due to limitations often associated with disability justice. We will address the intersections of rural community disability with different forms of oppression.

At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
Examine the specific barriers that cause disabilities with individuals in rural communities and recognize the intersections of disability justice.
Apply disability justice principles to rural community planning by gaining the knowledge needed to integrate disability justice principles into rural community development, urban planning, and policymaking.
Foster interdisciplinary collaboration for disability justice in rural communities by developing strategies for cross-sector partnerships that enhance the lives of people with disabilities in rural communities.
