We examined how age-restricted communities moderate the relationship between disability and housing outcomes among older adults using 2023 American Housing Survey data (n=15,420). Findings indicate that these communities buffer against housing insecurity and poor housing quality. Policies should prioritize integrated social support and targeted interventions for those with multiple disabilities.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
To analyze how age-restricted communities moderate the relationship between disability and housing outcomes, focusing on their potential buffering effect.
To evaluate the role of neighborhood deterioration in shaping housing outcomes for older adults, regardless of disability status.
To discuss policy implications for integrating housing support systems that account for the complexity of disabilities rather than solely their presence or absence.
