Social work students often come to the profession with personal histories that include traumatic events. Trauma informed care principles are useful in guiding how educators and administrators can assist students as they navigate topics of trauma, process their own trauma, and develop as professional and ethical social workers.

Participants will analyze principles of trauma informed care in the context of teaching social work students.
Participants will apply tenets of the NASW code of ethics to responsibilities for teaching students with trauma.
Participants will discuss the application of strategies for both teaching about trauma and managing student trauma in the classroom.
