This study examines the influence of various support networks on female recidivism using data from 269 participants in the SVORI program. Findings show that family emotional support reduces recidivism, while assistance with basic resources increases it. Results emphasize the need for gender-responsive, evidence-based social work interventions to improve reentry outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
Analyze the role of various support networks in female offender reentry, highlighting the influence of family emotional support and assistance with basic resources on recidivism outcomes.
Evaluate how demographic and criminogenic factors, such as age, employment, and prior convictions, interact with support variables to influence female recidivism, informing targeted social work interventions.
Develop evidence-based social work strategies that enhance reentry services by addressing the nuanced support needs of formerly incarcerated females, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration with criminal justice professionals to reduce recidivism.
