Understanding Student Concerns with Clinical Work and Utilizing Simulations to Grow Student Confidence

When implementing simulations as a teaching method, students are rarely consulted on scenarios they would find concerning if they encountered them in the future. This project asked students areas of social work they felt least confident in, built simulations around those topics, and measured student confidence in those areas afterwards.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
  1. Identify ways to grow student confidence and skill with pedagogical simulations
  2. Understand the areas of concern that students have regarding simulations, and the ways in which to address those areas of concern
  3. develop a way to identify student concerns, and build a simulation to address those concerns
