This project explores social media data mining, utilizing large language models (LLMs), to analyze discussions on disability justice and gender-based violence (GBV) on platforms like Reddit and Twitter. Employing feminist theory, critical race theory (CRT), and intersectionality, it aims to identify trends, public sentiment, and digital activism within marginalized communities.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
Analyze how social media platforms, specifically Reddit and Twitter, are used to discuss disability justice and gender-based violence, identifying key themes and public sentiment.
Apply large language models (LLMs) to perform sentiment analysis, topic modeling, and network analysis on social media data, providing insights into trends and the intersectionality of these social issues.
Evaluate the ethical considerations and implications of using social media data mining and LLMs for social justice research, including privacy concerns, bias, and community engagement.
