Session: Burnout and Mental Health Among Parents of Children with Special Needs

Disability Justice in Caregiving: Understanding Burnout Among Parents of Children with Special Healthcare Needs

This study examines systemic inequities contributing to burnout among parents of children with special healthcare needs (CSHCN) using 2023 NSCH data. Quantitative analyses reveal disparities in burnout linked to healthcare access, financial strain, and ableism. Findings advocate for trauma-informed policies centering disability justice in social work practice.
