Participants will explore the 10 principles of Disability Justice as a framework for addressing and understanding the intersectionality between disability, ableism, and gatekeeping in social work education. Through interactive methods, they will critically examine and apply these principles proactively in field placements, fostering inclusive and anti-oppressive practices.

Participants will be introduced to the Disability Justice framework and be able to consider its application to field education to dismantle ableist norms and challenge gatekeeping.
Participants will critically explore the intersectionality between disability justice and the field gatekeeping roles and examine how field educators can apply disability justice principles in the field placement process.
Participants explore ableism in higher education and how it manifests in field education and discuss strategies to assist students in navigating the management of their disability accommodations.
