Embracing the Resistive Nature of Imagined Futures for Disabled LGBTQ+ Communities

As our current sociopolitical climate continues to attack the intersectional needs and rights of Disabled LGBTQ+ individuals, it is pertinent to embrace joy and hope for the future. Using an arts-based approach, our research explored the imagined futures of LGBTQ+ people with disabilities through a critically conscious, disability justice lens.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
  1. Upon completion, the participant will be able to describe the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ people with disabilities and the futures imagined by this intersectional community.
  2. Upon completion, the participant will be able to demonstrate support for the LGBTQ+ disabled community by amplifying their visions for the future.
  3. Upon completion, the participant will be able to define disability justice and demonstrate this knowledge with a critically conscious lens.
