Integrating ethics training on social determinants of Native American women's prenatal substance use enhances socially just social work practice. Using Backward Design, this study developed an interactive case study workshop to apply ethical reasoning and expand networking. Future research should assess its impact and collaboration's role in prenatal equity.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify the social determinants of health, including historical trauma and Indigenous resilience, associated with substance use among Native American pregnant women.
Upon completion, participants will be able to apply the Ethical Decision-Making Model to case scenarios, integrating NASW standards, legal frameworks, and cultural values specific to Native American women in their decision-making process.
Upon completion, participants will critically reflect on ethical dilemmas in their practice and develop actionable strategies to integrate socially just, culturally responsive decision-making frameworks into their professional roles.
