EBP relies on research to produce evidence for practice decision making. Yet, critical theories of knowledge posit that research is embedded within the very social structures that produce the injustices social workers aim to disrupt. Applying tenets of critical epistemologies a revised EBP model is proposed to address this disjuncture.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
understand the core overlapping tenets of critical race theory, decolonizing methodologies, and critical disability studies as applied to consideration of research and evidence in evidence-based practice.
consider the underlying assumptions within the current EBP model and whether they align with NASW code of ethics
describe a revised EBP model that aims to bridge the current gap in practice relevant evidence produced through a critical lens.
